It is quite usual for first-time parents to take some time for knowing how to deal with a newborn baby. Some parents instantly have strong feelings for their newborns but others take a little time to get adjusted with their baby boy or girl. Checking out the tips below will make it easier for them to bond better with their newborn.

How to hold your baby

The heads of the newborns are a bit larger in comparison to their bodies, and their neck muscles are also not strong enough. Therefore, while holding babies, parents should always be careful to support their heads. Their inside arm should rest over their chest/abdomen. Babies are not that fragile as the adults think but they should still them hold gently, not just for the safety reasons but also to make him feel secure and safe. Newborn babies often find it difficult to get adjusted to their surrounding environment and so they cry. Parents are advised to talk to their babies because the voices of their mothers soothe them down although they do not understand the words.

Feeding your baby

Mother’s milk is the recommended source of food for the newborn babies till they reach the age of 8-9 months. Breast milk does not contain any adulteration or contamination and supplies the necessary quantity of nutrients as their body demands. It is also a moment of emotional satisfaction and close contact between the mother and the child. The immunoglobulin of the breast milk protects the baby against any kind of infections and allergies.

Some mothers give boiled water, glucose water, or fruit juices to their babies but it is not essential. Babies who are breast-fed are less likely to develop asthma in their later life. Infants who are less than 35 weeks old have poor swallowing reflexes and sucking power, and in that case, breast milk is the best food for them.
