PRINCIPLES OF GOOD PARENTING

Parenting is a very big responsibility. There are a lot of things that parents have to keep in mind when they are taking care of their children. Things such as education, food, and shelter, clothing and general behavior are a few of the major responsibilities of parents. Being a good parent does not always mean that they should provide material things to their children but they also have to ensure that their child grows to be a good person. The hallmark of a good parent is when their child has become independent and is able to take care of himself/herself. Here are a few principles that parents should abide to ensure that their children turn out well.

You cannot too love

As a parent you are supposed to love your child to the best of your ability. Loving your child is one of the characteristics of a good parent but loving your child too much is not always a good sign. Children who have very loving parents tend to get very spoiled as they will be continuously pampered and given what they want. This does not help your children grow and mature properly but it teaches them to be too dependent on other people. As a parent you should be able to strict when you have to and you should always set high standards for your child.

Be Involved

Whatever your child does, however big or small is always important to you. If they are doing well in school or actively taking part in plays and sports, you should make sure that you are always there to support them. Even your child’s homework is very important. You should always make sure that you spend at least half an hour to an hour per day on your child’s homework so that you can help develop their abilities quickly
